Augmented Reality in the classroom

Hello all!
I am so excited to be writing my first post! ever! on a blog! My older sister (who is a HUGE blogger) would be so proud of me. =)  I have incorporated many different technology resources in my classroom (too many for my own good). Some resources worked for me, some didn't. One of my favorite AR (augmented reality) apps to use is ZooKazam. I have used it obsessively for writing with my first grade students. I am currently using it to enhance my Language Arts lessons this summer. (because we all know Language Arts can always use a little hand) =P
So lets talk Zookazam! Zookazam is an AR app that uses the most advanced algorithms to provide users with incredibly real content so in other words, it brings images to LIFE right before you eyes! ZooKazam offers a variety of different animals and makes them come to life. So here's how to use it:
  1. Download the Zookazam app from the app store or google play
  2. Go to and print out a target page
  3. You can create an account or choose to SKIP for now, (I always choose SKIP because well..frankly...ain't nobody got time for dat!) lol but I will when I get to it =)
  4. So Zookazam offers "Mammal" for free, other categories such as fish, dinosaurs, invertebrates, etc are .99 each. Select Mammals icon for now
  5. Choose a mammal
  6. Point to the Zookazam target
  7. That's it!!! your image will come to life!
Follow ZooKazam to learn more:

In addition, this app will also provide information on whatever animal you choose and read the info to students. You can also change the weather and other factors for your animal. It's awesome! Check it out! I'd love to know what you think? How will you use it in your classroom? Or with your own children! nephews! cousins! anyone really! lol  My students really love this app. They are more engaged and attentive than ever! During writing!! thats crazy!!
