Things I Learned @ Kern Tech Fest

I met Alice Keeler she was the keynote speaker.  I was super excited to hear her speak and we took a group picture with her at the end of the day.  I follow her on twitter and continue to learn from her on a daily basis because she is all about GAFE and I love GAFE.

The first session I went to wasn't new information to me because I've played with chromebooks and have used GAFE with them.  During this session, I found myself wanting to answer some of the questions people were asking.  I thought oh my would I be able to do a presentation in the future.

However, during my third session, I learned about three new websites: Kahoot, Quizizz and Formative.  They are all great resources for checking for understanding in a fun new way through technology.  My favorite was Kahoot and I was so excited to learn all about it.  The person presenting had us play a few rounds and I couldn't stop thinking how I would use it on Monday in class.

For my last session, I went to a Google Chrome presentation.  I wasn't sure what it was going to be about but Hans Tullman was presenting so I new I would learn a lot and have fun.  I learned some bookmarking tips such as "command D", folders (if you know me you know I love folders for organization), and special settings.

I hate to admit this but I didn't know about Google Extensions.

My favorite extensions were scissors, google shortening, and bitmoji.  I shared them with my grade level the day I went back to work and they were in awwww.  I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed spending a Saturday learning more about technology.
